SASSA SRD Status Check: Use the Official Channel
A SASSA SRD status check should start with South Africa’s official Social Relief of Distress channel. The purpose is to see the status recorded for the relevant application and month, not to hand an intermediary control of personal information.

Start with the institution
SASSA’s official status guidance directs applicants to the SRD website to check verification and payment status monthly. Government guidance also links applicants to the agency’s channels. We link to the official domain in the sources below.
The official website did not load consistently in our research tools today. That is a limitation of our check, not proof of an agency-wide outage. We have not created a replacement checker or collected applicant details.
Treat a status as a record with a date
A useful status note identifies the application, month checked, exact wording and any next step displayed. A result for one month should not automatically be interpreted as the result for every other month.
Read the actual message before deciding what it means. Verification, approval, payment processing and a completed bank credit are different stages. An approval-related message alone does not establish that a transfer has arrived.
Keep a simple private log
Record when you checked, the period concerned and the response shown. If the portal offers a reference number, retain it privately. When asking the agency for help, use the exact wording rather than a summary that could lose the important distinction.
A fictional example: a person checks an earlier month while expecting a current-month payment. The first task is to correct the month being reviewed. Repeatedly refreshing the earlier record does not answer the current question.
Be careful with lookalike pages
A service using the agency’s name is not automatically the agency. Verify the domain before entering an identity number, contact details or other information. Never give a third party a one-time code or pay it for a guaranteed approval.
Any appeal or correction should follow the official route and the instructions applying to the actual case. We have not supplied a universal deadline, benefit amount or payment date because those need current controlling guidance.
